Samode Palace
The Place : Jaipur, Rajasthan, India
Just 45km from Jaipur, Samode Palace is not just a hotel, it’s a living legend. Rising from the Aravalli hills, this 500-year-old Indo-Saracenic marvel captures the romance of royal Rajasthan: marble corridors glowing in candlelight, hand-painted halls, infinity pools under starlit skies, and signature hospitality that has delighted countless travelers, celebrities, and wedding parties. With a storied past as a noble residence, Samode Palace welcomes modern guests with luxurious suites, celebrated dining, tranquil courtyards, and stylish amenities.
If you’re seeking a luxury palace stay that feels like a private escape into Rajasthan’s royal heritage, Samode Palace is your dream destination.
Inside the Stay
Your arrival at Samode Palace feels cinematic: from the dusty village lane, you glimpse domed gateways and rose petals scattered at your feet as the palace looms ahead in cream and terracotta grandeur. This heritage hotel has been lovingly restored and expanded, blending Rajput, Mughal, and contemporary influences.
Across 43 uniquely decorated rooms and suites, you’ll find four-poster beds, stained-glass windows, silk drapes, ancient mirrorwork, and lavish bathrooms with claw-foot tubs. Some Royal Suites include private courtyards, sun terraces, or Jacuzzis with sweeping views of the valley.
The palace’s heart is its lush inner courtyard, where you’ll find loungers beneath bougainvillea, and mornings start with birdsong and fragrant chai. Passageways wind to the Sheesh Mahal (Hall of Mirrors), reading lounges lined with antique books, arches framing sunlight, and hidden nooks flooded with golden hour light.
Two pools await: a marble garden pool shaded by palm trees, and a spectacular rooftop infinity pool with views of the hills, a surreal setting for sunset swims or afternoon drinks. The on-site spa offers Ayurvedic massages, aromatherapy, a sauna, steam rooms, and couple’s treatments, a quiet sanctuary after a day of sightseeing.
Breakfast is served in the Darbar Hall or on the terraces, overflowing with Rajasthani and continental options. For other meals, guests can choose between the grand dining room, breezy patios, or private settings in gardens or on the roof. The menu celebrates regional flavors (think laal maas, dal baati, traditional thalis), international favorites, and candle-lit “royal table” dinners. The palace bar serves top-shelf spirits, and high tea in the courtyard is not to be missed.
Samode Palace is famed for intimate celebrations, grand destination weddings (with capacity for 500+ across venues), and exclusive corporate events. The palace’s team handles everything, floral decor, gourmet menus, private musicians, and logistics, making every event seamless and magical.
What we loved
Getting to the palace felt like going on an adventure. We drove through the little village of Samoth, past flat farmland, and then slowly into the hills. The road was narrow and winding, with old stone gates that made it feel like we were crossing into another time. What’s amazing is that, even though the palace is huge, you can’t see it at all from outside. It stays hidden until you’re standing right in front of it. That moment, stepping into the big open space and seeing the whole palace facade for the first time was one of our favourite parts.
Inside, the place keeps surprising you. You walk through these narrow hallways, then suddenly step out into bright open courtyards or a grand hall like the Sheesh Mahal, full of mirrors and detail. Our room itself was quite simple, but the bathroom was the star, it had a bathtub and a balcony looking straight out at the hills. Sitting there with a coffee in the morning felt so peaceful.
The two pools were very different but equally nice. One was set in a courtyard, perfect for a quiet swim, and the other was an infinity pool at the back, where the water seemed to blend into the mountains. That view alone was worth the trip.
We also really enjoyed the palace tour. Our guide, Umair Singh, has been here for 35 years, and his family has worked at the palace for generations. He knew every story, every hidden detail, and shared it all in such an easy, natural way that it felt like we were seeing the place through the eyes of someone who’s lived it. It made the whole visit feel more personal and connected to its history.
