Inside India’s Most Secluded Glamping Retreat Near Tadoba National Park
The Story
Set on the edge of the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra, one of India’s top-rated tiger habitats, Trees and Tigers delivers wildlife glamping in India at its most exclusive. Located just a two-hour drive from Nagpur, this boutique wilderness retreat blends raw forest access with luxury tent stays near tiger reserves, creating an experience that’s both immersive and comfortable
Inside the Stay
The Safari Tents are spacious (around 600 sq.ft.) with wooden floors, earthy interiors, AC, and ensuite bathrooms. There’s a private elevated sun deck that gives you a great spot to sit with your morning coffee or listen to the forest at night.
If you’re coming with family or a group, the Twin Tent Suites are ideal. These are 1,200 sq.ft. setups featuring two interconnected tents joined by a large wooden deck with a plunge pool in the middle. It’s the kind of layout that gives you time together, but also room to yourself. Every detail from the green-toned upholstery to the fully wooden bathrooms feels warm and quietly luxurious but It’s not just the tents the food here is exceptional. From freshly baked treats at the in-house bakery to full meals made by their trained chefs, dining is an experience in itself.
What we loved
What stood out immediately was how much effort had gone into rewilding the land. This used to be farmland, but the team has planted so many native trees over the years that it now feels like you’re staying deep inside a forest. We spotted three species of owls within the property itself, along with paradise flycatchers and a variety of other birds. At night, you can actually hear owls calling and sometimes spot them as you walk around.
Each tent is spaced far apart, so you get total privacy. It really does feel like you’re in the wild. Having a private plunge pool at each tent made all the difference because coming back from safari and taking a dip under the stars was one of our favourite parts of the stay.
The team also arranged a small walk by a stream on the property, where we did some casual bird watching over chai. The in-house naturalists are fantastic, they add so much context to the landscape and make the experience feel personal. Tadoba is one of the most tiger-dense reserves in the country. We saw four tigers in a single day, which is wild even by Tadoba standards.
Why Tadoba is One of India’s Best Wildlife Zones for Tiger Spotting
Often dubbed the “Hidden Gem of Indian Safaris,” the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is quickly climbing the ranks as one of the best places for tiger sightings in the country. If you’re planning a tiger safari in 2024, Tadoba should top your shortlist. This is where sightings aren’t rare, they’re routine.
Especially in the Sirkada buffer zone, visitors have reported up to 7 tiger sightings in a single drive. Wildlife researchers and forest guides have also noticed something rare: dominant males sharing kills, cubs playing in open fields, and even cooperative hunting a behavior not commonly seen elsewhere in India.
One key reason? Tadoba’s forest structure. It’s a dry deciduous landscape with open canopy and golden grasslands, giving you uninterrupted lines of sight. Unlike parks like Ranthambore or Kanha, you’re less likely to leave your drive without at least one big-cat encounter.
Even better, Tadoba’s buffer zones remain open in the monsoon (July–September), making it one of the only tiger reserves in India offering full-access safaris during off-season months. With only 8 vehicles allowed per slot in zones like Sirkada, the experience is quieter, calmer, and deeply personal.
And it’s not just about tigers. Tadoba is also home to wild dogs, sloth bears, Indian gaurs, leopards, marsh crocodiles, and a variety of birds and reptiles. It’s a full-spectrum wildlife destination that continues to stay under the radar until now.
Local Forest Life & Experiences Around the Camp
At Trees and Tigers, the glamping doesn’t end after the sun sets, it’s wherever the forest leads you. From guided nature walks to bush dinners under vast skies, every moment in the camp deepens the connection to Tadoba’s living wilderness.
Nature Walks & Birding with the Naturalists
Leave your safari jeep behind and step into forest edges with experienced naturalists like Loveleen and Johnathan, who grew up near these forests. On these walking safaris, you’ll spot birds like paradise flycatchers and Malabar pied hornbills and trace deer paths.
Stargazing
Far from city haze, Tadoba’s nighttime sky lives up to the word “wilderness.” With minimal light pollution you may witness the movement of shooting stars, or simply the constellations mirrored in the quiet of the forest.
Community & Conservation Beyond the Camp
While the camp offers comfort, the surrounding buffer zones host deeper stories. Tadoba has partnered with official tourism operators to develop customized eco-tourism experiences in nearby villages, including heritage walks, river kayaking, and cultural exposure, all weaving community livelihood with conservation goals.
Wildlife Beyond Tigers
Tree-lined lakes, seasonal grasslands, and mango groves invite daily sights of sloth bears, gaurs, dhole packs, and marsh crocodiles, not to mention 300 bird species and 75 butterfly varieties that call Tadoba home.
