Summer Getaways Near Mumbai

Imagine this: your favourite drink in hand, skin still warm from the sun, and a quiet pool reflecting a sky melting into gold. The kind of stillness the city never quite allows. No visas to chase, no long-haul flights to endure, no exhausting itineraries to follow, just a seamless escape that begins the moment you decide to leave.

At The Rishlist, we’ve put together these stays for you, choosing places that offer the right mix of comfort, setting, and experience for a summer break that just works.

Handpicked by The Rishlist, these summer getaways near Mumbai and Pune bring together private villas, scenic views, and easy escapes designed for a relaxed, comfortable break.

1. The Barn By StayVista, Lonavala

At The Barn, what we appreciated most was the clarity of design. Nothing feels excessive, yet every element has been thought through. The interplay of glass and greenery keeps the space open and connected, while the earthy-industrial language gives it a distinct edge without making it feel heavy.

The layout works in a way that’s both functional and intuitive. With a main villa and a separate pool villa, there’s enough room for a group to spread out while still feeling connected. The greenhouse is a quiet highlight, adding a layer of freshness that softens the structure, while the bedrooms bring in a sense of balance, warmer, more restrained, and easy to settle into.

2) Sunset On The Lake By StayVista, Nashik

There are stays that impress, and then there are stays that you remember forever. Sunset On The Lake belongs to the latter. Awarded Villa of the Year by MakeMyTrip, it feels less like a home and more like a private island suspended in stillness.

Water surrounds you completely, holding the villa in a quiet embrace. Every one of the five bedrooms opens to the lake, as if the horizon itself has been invited indoors.

What we liked most here was how the infinity pool lines up with the lake. When you’re in it, the view feels continuous, and you catch yourself pausing a little longer than expected.

Around the property, there are small spots that naturally draw you in. A swing placed where the breeze comes through, chairs right by the water, and a jacuzzi set slightly away from the main areas so it feels a bit more private.

It’s a space that gives you options without making you think too much about it.

It’s expansive, yet intimate. Grand, yet deeply personal.

A 3-hour drive from Mumbai via NH160, and just about 30 minutes from Nashik, it holds up to 20 guests without ever feeling crowded. The lake becomes your constant companion here, shifting colours, moods, and reflections with every passing hour.

3)Amoha Villas, Nashik

At Amoha, the first thing we noticed was how the outdoors never really feels outside. With floor-to-ceiling glass framing the lake and the mountains beyond, you’re constantly met with views that stay with you, almost like they’ve followed you in.

What we really liked about this place is how naturally it balances different moods. There’s space for everyone to come together, and just as easily, space to step away when you want your own time.

The private villa, with its infinity pool opening out to a wide lawn, is where afternoons tend to stretch a little longer than planned. Indoors, it feels easy and comfortable, with board games, soft corners, and spaces that don’t try too hard but still bring people together.

For smaller groups or quieter stays, the three cottages feel like their own little pockets within the property. They’re more private, more contained, and work really well if you want something slower and a bit more personal.

One thing that stayed with us, though, was the food. There’s a clear attention to detail, not just in how it’s presented, but in how it’s thought through. It feels considered. Simple dishes are done really well, and something like the chicken roulade ends up being more memorable than you’d expect.

With space for up to 27 guests across 6+3 rooms, Amoha works well whether you’re planning something with a larger group or just want a place that gives you options. It doesn’t try to overwhelm you, and that’s exactly why it works.

4) Vaana By StayVista, Lonavala

If you’re someone who leans towards fresh air, open skies, and the simple joy of being outdoors, this is exactly where you’re meant to be. A thoughtful blend of glamour and camping, Vaana creates a space where comfort doesn’t take you away from nature, it brings you closer to it.

Tucked beneath the looming presence of Tikona Fort, and just a short drive from Pune, the landscape does most of the talking.

The stay leans into a kind of understated adventure. Twelve canopy-roofed suites are scattered through the greens, each one intimate and holding up to 3 guests so you never feel alone.

And then, as you move through it, Vaana begins to reveal its quieter pleasures. A hammock swaying somewhere between two trees, a swing that feels almost childlike in the best way, an outdoor jacuzzi that appears just when you think you’ve seen it all. An exposed brick amphitheatre opens into a games area, creating a space that shifts easily from slow afternoons to laughter-filled evenings

The pool deck catches the light beautifully through the day, but it’s the nights that linger. The kind where you find yourself looking up more than around, the sky stretching wide above you, the fort now just a silhouette, and everything else falling into a comfortable hush.

Some places you visit. Others you return to, even after you’ve left.

This summer, maybe it’s less about escaping the city and more about finding a version of yourself
that only exists when you slow down.
